#bebeethoven: On Palestrina

Kammermusiksaal des Beethoven-Hauses Bonn | 53111 Bonn

For sound engineer Johann Günther the recording is part of the artistic process. In this concert, he gives the audience an insight into his work and makes live mixing a tangible experience.

Equipped with headphones, the listeners are immersed in the world of silence and sound, which the musicians discover in the notes of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. Melody lines become musical drawings through which the brilliance of the original shimmers again and again.

#bebeethoven: Proto

Bundeskunsthalle | 53113 Bonn

"Spawn" is the baby of Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst. She's just learning to talk and sing. But Spawn is not a flesh and blood human being, but an artificial intelligence. Together with musicians Spawn plays an important role in the live show "PROTO". The singers work together with contributions from "Spawn", a virtual voice housed in a computer. The program premiered in 2019 in cooperation with the CTM Festival at the Volksbühne Berlin.

#bebeethoven: Instrumental Convergence

Bundeskunsthalle | 53113 Bonn

Alexander Schubert fiddles around at the interface between people, music and technology.

The evening offers an excursion into the composer's technoid world of sound: four of his works can be heard, including the new composition "Instrumental Convergence" with the Ensemble Resonanz and "Wikipiano", which can be co-composed online.

People make music with their avatars, artificial intelligence expands the performance practice. What happens when technology takes control of a concert?

#bebeethoven: Vespers and Dreams

Universität Bonn, Aula | 53113 Bonn

The longing for rituals that create identity and community is something prehistoric, even in music.

Claudio Monteverdi's Vespers of Mary - a strictly ordered yet revolutionary work - has fascinated people for 400 years.

Harpsichordist and #bebeethoven Fellow Elina Albach and her ensemble CONTINUUM confront the work with the contemporary cycle Vespers for a New Dark Age, a piece by Missy Mazzoli revolving around rituals from today's time. Intense and beguiling.

#bebeethoven: Trickster Orchestra

Bundeskunsthalle | 53113 Bonn

#bebeethoven-Fellow Elisa Erkelenz explores the contemporary music of non-Western cultures.

In Bonn, she presents the Berlin Trickster Orchestra, which unites outstanding soloists from various musical traditions to create a new sound of trans-traditional art music.

The genre-busting compositions are developed in workshops and improvisations. Something new is created in the charming interspace of genres and traditions.
