#bebeethoven: Vespers and Dreams

The longing for rituals that create identity and community is something prehistoric, even in music.

Claudio Monteverdi's Vespers of Mary - a strictly ordered yet revolutionary work - has fascinated people for 400 years.

Harpsichordist and #bebeethoven Fellow Elina Albach and her ensemble CONTINUUM confront the work with the contemporary cycle Vespers for a New Dark Age, a piece by Missy Mazzoli revolving around rituals from today's time. Intense and beguiling.
