OPENING CEREMONY
Organiser
250 years of Beethoven offer a lot of room for a variety of perspectives on the composer and the opening ceremony will reflect this broad spectrum. The ceremonial address will be given by Prof. Monika Grütters, Minister of State to the Federal Chancellor and Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media. A Beethoven pasticcio designed by Paul Griffiths especially for the opening concert will explore the relevance that Beethoven and his music can still have for us today. The collage will be framed by the Leonore Overture No. 3 op. 72b and the Choral Fantasia op. 80. The opening concert, which will be broadcast live by the West German Broadcasting Service (WDR), forms the festive prelude to an eventful opening week. An event organized by Beethoven Jubiläums Gesellschaft GmbH in cooperation with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn.
