Friday Concert 1 (Repeat) Beethoven Orchestra Bonn

Organiser

"We're back!" That's what they say after the compulsory interval that Corona has given us since March. Our first concert at the opera, which of course begins with Beethoven: with the Beethoven from Bonn, which we actually wanted to celebrate this year! The Rondo WoO6 had been planned as the final movement for the Piano Concerto in B flat major and its first version in Beethoven's luggage when he set off for Vienna. As soloists we present Colin Putz. He is an absolute double talent: shortly before Christmas, as a young Beethoven, he can be seen as an actor and pianist in Niki Stein's sensational new film. We conclude the concert with Beethoven's great celebration of life and dance, his Symphony No. 7 in A major. Its final movement left the composer's contemporaries in doubt about his state of health and tempted Richard Wagner to storms of enthusiasm: Nothing less than the "Apotheosis of Dance" was created by the great father with this work. In between, as a homage to "Nine Eleven", we position the greatest possible contrast: Samuel Barber's great song of silence and mourning. A work that conjures up a community that we have been missing for a while now and which we perhaps need more than ever!
