May
Young Europe meets Beethoven

Organiser
Ensembles and choirs from the twin cities of the three municipalities (Rheinbach: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, France, Deinze, Belgium, Sevenoaks, United Kingdom, Kamenický Senov, Czech Republic; Meckenheim: Le Mée-sur-Seine, France; Swisttal: Quesnoy-sur-Deûle, France) have been invited to play together with students of the Voreifel Music School. The focus of the weekend is on making music together inspired by the European ideal, but of course just as much also on meeting people and sharing Beethoven’s ideas of freedom.
In addition to the ensemble's performances on Saturday morning in the three municipalities, there will also be
a joint final concert at 4:00 pm
with contributions from all of the ensembles in Meckenheim's Jungholzhalle. A commissioned composition takes up the libertarian, visionary impulse of Ludwig van Beethoven, and this European gathering of young musicians will be concluded with the European anthem, the “Ode to Joy”, being performed by all of the participants at the end of the concert.
