Fidelio am Rhing

Organiser

"Riveting Performances" and "Sold Out – Only Remaining Tickets Available" are two of the headlines that have been associated with the "Cäcilia Wolkenburg" theatre ensemble in the media for many years. The "colourful daughter" of the Cologne Men’s Choir (Kölner Männer-Gesang-Verein) delights thousands of guests from near and far for years. Every year, "Cäcilia Wolkenburg" offers a "world premiere" and brand new piece of Rhenish musical theatre with its typical Rhenish “Divertissementchen”. Every performance promises excellent entertainment with peppy music of all genres, specially arranged choral pieces for about 100 singers, with new ballet choreographies and the full élan of the one hundred strong ensemble, accompanied by a symphony orchestra and band. "Fidelio am Rhing" brings Beethoven’s liberation ideals to the Rhineland. Bonn’s greatest son will proclaim his ideals of freedom in his Rhenish dialect and homeland for the first time – 206 years after its global premiere in 1814. It goes without saying that humour will play a central role in a Rhenish musical in Beethoven’s home. Countless allusions to the current situation in the Rhineland (Bonn, Cologne and Dusseldorf) will ensure an easy transfer to the present day.
